Community Justice

  • COMMUNITY ADVOCATE As County Commissioner, I will use my role to advocate for community members of all backgrounds. Each year, our county continues to become more diverse. It is estimated that minority groups will become the majority by 2021, the year I will assume office. My candidacy is the beginning of what may be a true universal representation of all members of the community.

  • HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION Our Community deserves justice and as commissioner I will propose the creation of a Human Right Commission. These members will be appointed to serve as an over-watch committee to protect people who live or work in Cobb County from discrimination and harassment in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodations, credit transactions, and access to Cobb County facilities, services and programs and (2) To ensure that those who work in, or for the benefit of, Cobb County are paid an appropriate wage for their labors and receive appropriate benefits.

  • ICE OUT OF COBB I will advocate restlessly to eliminate any ICE Detainer policies in our County Jail, including 287g. We are a home to immigrants. A home where fathers and mothers should not have to worry about the separation of their family. Alongside community members, I will make sure no county funds are distributed to be used to support ICE cooperation with our local law enforcement agencies.

  • TRANSPARENCY Create more accessible records of the county police and sheriff’s office to expand transparency to our agencies in order to combat discriminatory practices.

  • COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS I will ensure investments in the district are reviewed by the community so that the community can have a say in what will affect them and allow for there to be opportunities for Community Business Agreements. The community deserves a seat at the table!

  • BAIL BOND REFORM As County Commissioner, I will work to partner with the District Attorney and the Court Judges to create a Bail Bond Reform that does not negatively affect low-income community members.

  • INDIGENOUS DAY End the Celebration of Columbus Day and make it Indigenous Day to remember the true roots of this nation.

  • COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT I will be a partner with Cobb County’s Community Engagement Officers to create a program that allows the Cobb County School Police and the Cobb County Police/Sheriff Department/Fire Department/EMS to be able to engage with our youth in schools. This program will work to promote roles in our county’s public safety so that our youth can be invested in the future of the county. We have the right to invest and change the narrative of our future.

  • COMMUNITY PRO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT As a sitting member of the Board of Commissioners, I will have the voice to speak in favor of programs which the Cobb County Economic Development presents that benefit local-business owners. As County officials we are called to use all resources available to bring forth sustainable improvement in the area that should be achievable and affordable. I will advocate and stand for programs that promote home ownership for the working class in the county. In addition, I will refuse donations from real estate developers in order to bring transparency to my zoning decisions as commissioners.

  • A VOICE FOR THE WORKING CLASS Representation in the county comes by creating accessible opportunities for all members of the community. I believe in order to be truly representative of the working class of the county, we must advocate to hear their voices. In order to do this, I will bring forth an ordinance making both Board meetings to be held in the evenings. Everyone’s voice must be heard.
